Williams Overman Pierce, LLP Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Williams Overman Pierce is proud to announce that the firm has achieved the distinction of being in business for 50 years, proudly serving clients since 1971.

Williams Overman Pierce was founded in Greensboro, NC in 1971.  Over the past 50 years, the firm has seen growth into two other cities in North Carolina, merging with a firm in Raleigh in 1987 and opening the Wilmington office in 2020. The firm currently has six partners and has grown to a team of almost fifty professional and administrative staff.

“When Eddie Strange and I opened the Raleigh office in 1977, we shared a common vision for what an accounting firm should stand for: integrity, client service and the freedom for our team members to grow as professionals.  Since that time, the industry has changed profoundly through numerous shifts in tax laws and the explosion of technologies that ushered in new ways of working,” says Jim Pierce, retired partner.  “Yet, our core values for the firm remain as central to our mission now as they were the day the firm was founded.  I’m proud of what our current partners have accomplished and their dedication to continuing our vision as they work with new clients and those we’re honored to continue serving after two and three generations.”

“This is an exciting time to be a part of the Williams Overman Pierce team,” says George S. Lambert, Jr., the firm’s Managing Partner.  “I attribute the firm’s achievements in part to our ability to keep pace with a rapidly changing environment, both in the work we do and the technology we use to do it.  However, the greatest part of our success over the last 50 years and for the next 50 can be attributed to the dedication of our staff and to the loyalty of our clients.  The firm has built a reputation for integrity and outstanding client service, and both are vital to our continued success.”
